Prior to this appointment, she served as Director General of the Foreign Service and Director of Human Resources (2012-2013), leading a team of approximately 400 employees who handled the full range of personnel functions for the State Department’s 70,000-strong workforce — from recruitment and hiring, to evaluations, promotions and retirement.
Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield’s 34-year Foreign Service career includes an ambassadorship to Liberia (2008-2012), and foreign postings in Switzerland (at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations), Pakistan, Kenya, The Gambia, Nigeria, and Jamaica.

Proven track record of building strategic partnership deals, new business development, finance and equity and new product launches.

Tânia Tomé é Licenciada em Economia e Posgraduada em Auditoria e Controlo de gestão, em Portugal pela Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Porto 2003) trabalhando a mais de 12 anos com projetos de investimento e na banca moçambicana e nos últimos 6 anos assumindo posições de liderança Diretora de Negócios da Ecokaya, Chefe de Crédito e Mitigação de Risco da Gapi e Chefe de Negócios e de Investimento da Gapi.
No decurso da sua carreira profissional como economista e empreendedora recebeu diversos prémios,Vencedora do prémio africano académico (Fundação Portugal-Africa) recebido do Presidente de Portugal Mário Soares e as representações diplomáticas dos Palop em Portugal, Prémio de Mérito da Presidência de Moçambique, Prémio de Jovem executiva Empresária Lider pela Global Finance, selecionada e nomeada mulher lider (IVLP Program) pelo Governo de EUA e Embaixada Americana, entre outros.
Tânia é também activista, autora, formadora e palestrante, formada em Projectos de Investimento e Empreendedorismo pela Certform (Portugal), Formada em Contabilidade e Fiscalidade pela Certform (Portugal), Formada em Avaliação Financeira de Projetos de Mineração pela IETEC (Brazil).

Foi Presidente da Mesa de Juri na competição de jovens empreendedores da ONE, e foi a porta-voz da conferência Nacional de Empreendedorismo da ANJE em Moçambique. A sua esfera de network vai além fronteiras moçambicanas, conhecendo lideres do sector privado e públicos de diferentes países do mundo, tendo recebido felicitações de mais três presidentes de diferentes países .
Para além de empreendedora e bancária, Tânia Tomé é escritora, cantora e compositora tendo ganho também reconhecimento, seu livro de poesia é referência bibliográfica da pós-graduação em Letras da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, foi uma das selecionadas em Moçambique para o prémio Portugal Telecom (Brasil 2011), com destaque de mais três africanos entres os quais o escritor José Agualusa. Ganhou o prémio nacional de poesia do Millenium BIm 2005. E participou recentemente no debate da Minerva do Debate Mulher e criação ao lado de Paulina Chiziane.
Tânia Tomé têm dois livros de poesia lançados, e dois cds de música lançados. Como cantora ganhou Prémio de Africa – Soundicity Awards 2010, Afro Jazz Music Winner MMA 2013, Africa Austral Music Award 1988 by Who, Museke African Museke Award Nomenee 2011 e muitos outros.
